The wedding budget conversation no one teaches you to have

Before anyone tours a venue or pins a single centerpiece, there is one conversation that quietly decides how the entire year of planning will feel. It isn't about flowers. It's about money — who is contributing, how much, and what that contribution does and doesn't buy them.

Most couples skip it, or have it in fragments over months, renegotiating every time a deposit comes due. The couples who enjoy their planning year have it once, early, and write it down.

Have it before the number exists

The order matters. If you set the budget after touring venues, the prettiest room you saw becomes the budget. Sit down first — just the two of you — and answer one question: what would we happily spend if nobody else's expectations were in the room?

A budget isn't a limit on the day. It's a decision about the year — how it will feel to live through it.

Write the number where you'll see it every time you plan. Then let every vendor conversation begin from it, rather than end at it.
